Exotic Car Crashes: My favs

Sure, there are lots of exotic car crash reports avail on net. Here, I'm posting some of my favourites. Sources- WreckedExotics.com

Porsche Carrera GT. One of the most successful supercars ever, selling more cars than Ferrari Enzo, SLR McLaren, and Pagani Zonda combined. Till date, there have been 38 crashes out of 1,270 produced cars.

The first SLR to be totaled. Former world boxing champion Prince Naseem Hamed, 31 years old, was passing several vehicles illegally when he crashed head-on with a Volkswagen Golf. He had 2 other passengers in the SLR at the time of the crash. They all got out and ran away from the scene of the accident. One of the passengers in the Volkswagon had a broken arm and needed urgent medical attention. Hamed and his 2 passengers were arrested, questioned, and released on bail. Location - Sheffield, United Kingdom.

The owner of the mighty Veyron thought it to be safe to drive at 100MPH in rain. Unfortunately, he was wrong. He had the Bugatti only for one week. If it's not bad enough then there's another news in which a man buys the $1.6 million toy, drives out of the shop, speeds through traffic a little and crashes.

Pagani Zonda. During night when the road is empty... Looks like he just hit a footpath, enough to send this ultra-low car crashing.

Ferrari Modena on empty highway. Need say more?

It's a Lambo Murcielago LP640. Dunno how it crashed. I didn't read reports.

I dunno which car is it. By judging its rare beauty, I would reckon that it's a Lambo Diablo.

I dunno why Hummers are claimed to be indestructible. This one got totaled just by crashing head on with a pick-up. Also, the pick-up seems to have suffered less damage than the Hummer.

I can't tell at all which Ferrari is it. Bits flying everywhere...

This Murcielago LP640 belongs to Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. It was found crashed on Edens Expressway in Chicago at around 3:30 AM with the driver missing. Police don't yet know who was driving.

Rowan Atkinson, the popular actor who plays "Mr. Bean" did it. Only 107 F1's were produced and probably more than half were destroyed, I don't know. Atkinson has a history of crashing multiple exotic cars.

Most Ferrari Enzo Crashes occur in California and Dubai. No prize for guessing if the given photo is from California or Dubai. Enzo has proven itself to be a supremely safe vehicle, having been in at least 2 crashes with speeds over 150MPH but the driver survived or even walked away without a scratch.

In case you are wondering which car crash has been most expensive in history, you are looking at it. Touted as the Ferrari that most successfully embodies the traits of the marque, the 1962-64 Ferrari 250 GTO became the most valuable car in the world. In 2008, an anonymous English buyer bought a 250 GTO at auction for a record $28.5 million. The crash above represents a car worth more than the combined value of all 14 Enzos involved in accidents. It is simply unbelievable that an owner would even dare take this car on the road. After a track event involving historic cars, the owner of this rare beast rammed into the back of another car after traffic slowed down.

My Fav - Ferrari Enzo Crash in Malibu

Facts:
1) When and where - 6:08AM, Feb 21, 2006 in Malibu, California. On the Pacific Coast Highway near Decker Canyon.
2) Owner - Stefan Erikssen, a 44 yr old former executive of Gizmondo. He left Gizmondo after allegedly involved in a Swedish Mafia crime ring.
3) He was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He suffered only a bloody lip.

What's it? The Ferrari's Engine!

Owner's Claim:
1) He was a passenger in the Enzo. The car was being driven by a German guy, Dietrich.
2) He was racing against a silver SLR McLaren driven by a fellow, Trevor.

The "silver" SLR McLaren, the owner was referring to.It has a European license plate.

A witness' Account:
The Enzo went airborne due to excessive speed, that's why it crashed in the first place.

Police's Observation:
1) The official speed of impact - 162MPH.
2) The Enzo in subject was in process to be repossessed by the Bank of Scotland.
3) Erikssen owns a second Ferrari Enzo with a questionable registration.
4) Dietrich does exist but he was not in the Enzo at that time. The race with SLR McLaren was not true. Trevor was the other person in the Enzo.

The black, second Enzo has a European license plate

The Enzo crash incident was so popular that some guys made fun of it. One t-shirt in honor of the crash is shown below.

The folks over Engadget made a cake to celebrate the crash.

The Aftermath:
1) Eriksson is facing upto 14 years in prison after being charged with 9 criminal counts including drunken driving, embezzlement, grand theft auto (at least two Enzos and an SLR), possession of firearm, possession of cocaine and other related charges.
2) Eriksson has also wrecked an SLR McLaren back in England about a year earlier than the Enzo crash.

The Most Important FACT eventually unearthed:
Eriksson was the driver. Trevor was in passenger seat filming the speedometer. It showed 199MPH just before crashing. 199MPH!

Mug shot of Stefan Eriksson after his arrest. Doesn't look too happy. Can't blame him. Thanks to him to keep us entertained!
